Tour Repertory

The demand for Kitt Johnson's characteristic artistic universe has been steadily increasing. Her debut at the prestigious Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts in 2003 earned her a space on the New York Times’ top 10 list of that year’s dance performances. After her Canadian premiere at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto in October 2004 she was once again included on a top 10 list – this time in NOW Toronto Magazine.


Kitt Johnson's latest ensemble work Palimpsest is avaliable for touring in spring 2009.


The following performances and related activities are at present available for touring:


AWARD WINNING SOLOS
Kitt Johnson is primarily known as a solo performer. Her two award winning solos Stigma and The Mirror have been performed all over Europe as well as in the Far East and North America.

  • On 13th April 2005 Kitt Johnson presented her latest full evenening solo (55 minutes) performance Rankefod - an evolutionary performance in celebration of the origin of the species.
    The performance focuses on the theme of the prae-archaic body and senses which live on in contemporary humans - just there on the other side of the cell wall in the primordial slime - like living pockets of memories from the time before homo erectus, awaiting a password.

  • The Mirror is a full evening piece of 55 minutes duration which premiered in Copenhagen in April of this year. Originally created as a site specific project, the touring version premiered at the Festival Bellone Brigittines in Bruxelles in August 2002. The Mirror recieved the prestigoeus Danish "Reumert Award" in April 2003.

  • Stigma's duration is 25 minutes. The piece is well suited to play at festivals as the technical requirements are flexible. The performance premiered at The National Art Museum in Copenhagen and it has received The Danish Art Foundations prize 1999, plus a nomination as the year’s best dance performance in Denmark. Stigma has toured extensively since 1999.

INVENTIVE ENSEMBLE WORK

  • Following the succesful reception of her latest performance, Palimpsest - for 5 male dancers - will be available for touring from October 2008. Duration 65 minutes.
    Our bodies remind us that we are Nature and, like Nature in its essence, fluid and perishable inside. The skin separates us and the world, holds our flowing insides together and provides us with that mask with which we meet the world.

  • Aber Dabei (premiering April 2007) is a bagatelle for two. Duration approx. 60 minutes. In a twentieth century library Gustavsson is searching for the meaning of life. Aber Dabei, the fly in the ointment, is the slight uncertainty that prompts him to continue searching.

WORKSHOPS
  • Kitt Johnson is much in demand for teaching – in Copenhagen as well as abroad.
    Kitt Johnson has been invited to Athens, Greece and Stavanger, Norway in the Spring of 2004 in order to give workshops. She teaches on a regular basis in connection with a popular ”Open Training” concept in Copenhagen.
    The dance workshop Experimentarium is an integrated part of X-act's tour repertory.
