INNER AND OUTER COMMUNICATION – THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
The nervous system is the steering system for body, mind and soul. Each inner and outer communication touches the nervous system. It has a crucial function in every process of life – from the simplest action, like resting, to the most complex task, like abstract thinking. The nervous system coordinates all body functions – breath, metabolism, movement and reproduction.

Especially for the performing artist it can be very helpful to learn how to balance the nervous system or to switch between states of extreme activity and repose. Working with the nervous system can connect us to sources for creativity (inner communication) and expressiveness (outer communication) and helps us develop and improve skills of learning (integration).

Body Mind Centering covers a variety of methods. Some, like Ideokinesis and Authentic Movement, are based on movement and dance. Others like Hands-on-Work and Experiential Anatomy use touch and imagery to perceive and anchor the personal process of body experience.

Regina Biermann, dancer and choreographer, studied New Dance and Contact Improvisation in Germany, the Netherlands and the US. She is educated in Body-Mind Centering and Release-technique and has many years of experience as a teacher.
Apart from her work as a dancer in a number of productions, she has been presenting her own choreographies since 1989. They have been performed in Germany, the Netherlands, the US, Poland, Hungary and Egypt. Regina Biermann is especially interested in cooperating with artists working in the fields of literature, music and fine arts, as well as site specific performances.
